Before we could go out filming we first had to obtain all of the required equipment in order to be able to film. This equipment is camera to be able to film, a tripod so we are able to keep the camera steady when filming, a memory card so that everything we had recorded was saved and also a microphone so that when there was speech we are able to hear it. We already had this required equipment so we did not need to borrow and sign out the equipment from the school. For the advert we also had to obtain the props and costumes such as the Polo's, bow and arrows and also the robin hood costume. We already had the bow and arrow for the filming so we did not need to purchase this however we did not have the costumes so had to buy these. We brought these costumes over the internet on Ebay so that we did not have to spend lots of money for the costumes.
Before we left to get to our location we needed to charge the battery in the battery and also take a spare that was charged. This meant that we were able to have the most time at the location filming so we could make sure we had all of the necessary footage for the advertisment. Another thing that we needed to do was collect all of the props for the advert such as the Polo and the bow and arrows. We made sure that we had all of the required props and equipment by making a list and ticking off all of the equipment we had. The final preparation we had to do was make sure that we had warm enough clothing so we did not get too cold and were unable to operate the camera properly and also for general safety. Some food and drink so we did not have to return back to the house when we got hungry or thirsty and resulting in wasted time by travelling back and forth. The final thing we needed to do before leaving for the place of filming was to make sure we were able to easily contact someone incase of an emergency and also tell people where we were going so that if something did happen then people would know where we are.
Once we had arrived at the location we made sure that we searched the area and made points of exits and a place that we would meet incase something had gone wrong. Because we were going to be using a bow and arrow in public we needed to inform a member of the authority that we were going to be using this equipment in the woods incase someone rang the police or informed them and we would have been into trouble. After this we assigned a spot for filming which was open enough to be able to move and let enough light in so that the recording would be bright enough but also an area where we could not see houses or roads as this would not fit in with the time setting our advert was set. We made sure that we had enough light by leaving early in he morning so that by the time we had practiced filming and went to record the final film we would have the most light that we could. Another way that we done this is by checking the weather before we left to see if it would be sunny and if not then we would leave it for another day. The image below shows the location that we filmed at and also shows that there was enough light on the area in order for the recording to be clear.
Throughout the filming we needed to make sure that we did not injure ourself and this was a large part of the filming process as we had a weapon that needed to be careful of. The first threat that we encountered was when I needed to run. This was a problem because if the ground wet then there was a risk that I could have fallen over. To avoid this we made sure that I ran on a part of the ground that was not wet and also did not run fast. Another worry for safety was that some of the trees has thorns coming out of some of their twigs and branches. To get around this we had two options, either break of the twigs or use a different tree. After some consideration we decided to find another tree as we may have caused injury when trying to remove the twig. The last cause of safety the had to be thought of was when the bow and arrow was being pointed towards the other actor. This was a safety risk because if the arrow was released when filming then he could have been injured. To eradicate this risk I thought that if we were to achieve the effect of the arrow being aimed at the other actor by moving the camera so that it gives this illusion. This means hat the other actor will not be in danger from getting hit by the arrow.
